Two big clubs Juventus and Ac Milan battle it out today in a Serie A clash in the Italian league.
Juventus are getting closer to a fifth straight title. Beating Milan will be a significant boost to their title hopes as they would get even more close. That would be a very nice way to go into the weekend and the showdown with Porto in four days’ time in the UEFA Champions League.
Many people will look back at AC Milan’s 1-0 victory in the first leg this season, but quite a lot has changed for Juventus and Milan since then in October. They’ve met three times in total this season, AC Milan faces an uphill battle, as they aim to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive.
Milan’s win over the champions at the San Siro was a vindication for their young, talented side. A bright start becomes a brilliant one after beating the best Serie A has to offer. However, having such a young team meant that there was always a danger of tailing off and that is clearly what happened.
However, the weekend results suited the Rossoneri( Milan ), slightly giving them a tinge of hope for a possible push to the top three in Serie A.
A defeat here would be a major setback to Milan’s hopes, yet a home win is likely. Juventus have won all of their home league games this season, a perfect record since 2015. That record helped them to win the 2016 title, and they are also expected to win yet another title (Scudetto) this season. Their excellent run at the Juventus Stadium is projected to continue.
To tell the truth, the biggest danger to Juventus here is their mentality because they lost to AC Milan in the first leg. They need to be focused. This cost them against Udinese last weekend as they drew 1-1.It is also understandable ahead of a huge week of Champions League football. However, they shouldn't allow that to continue if they are to keep up the push in both the Champions League and Serie A.
Juventus conceded a goal against Palermo ahead of their first leg of the UEFA Champions League meeting with FC Porto, and they are also at risk of doing the same against AC Milan.
AC Milan has scored averagely 1.38 goals per game in their away matches, scoring in 77% of their trips in Serie A.
The Rossoneri have scored in five consecutive away games, while they to have conceded in eight of their last eleven matches.
The last two encounters have been difficult for Juventus as they narrowly won 2-1 here in the Coppa Italia after a 1-1 draw and penalty defeat in the Supercoppa Italiana in Doha.
Milan has been a thorn in the champions’ side all season, and they come into this game having netted in 12 of their last 13 matches.
With that form and Juve’s excellent home record, I am backing both teams to score.
